Strep Throat - Remedies

I've had a severe sore throat for three days now. I went to the Doctor (Dr. Tu) on day 2 and put me on anti-biotics and ibuprofen after seeing and sampling my red sore throat. It's been very painful when I go to swallow but tonight I feel much better knowing I got runny nose and sneezing to go along with it.

Yesterday, I gargled salt water every hour. It was horribly uncomfortable I could hardly stand it every time I went to swallow it was painful. My mouth would accumulate water because I didn't want to swallow and I was spitting in a cup. I did find that using a hot water compress on my face neck made the rest of me feel great and detracted my focus on the throat.

Also I got up and played the piano and found that giving myself something to do, surprisingly took my mind off the entire problem. My phone line has been down so it was not possible to search Strep Throat or any kind of throat remedies. The old fashion dictionary didn't give me much information either. But after talking to a few people, I was given a lot of different advice:

1) Gargling salt water (hot)
2) Throat lozenges
3) Drinking a lot of water
4) Chloraseptic Antiseptic spray
5) Drink hot tea and lemon juice
6) Musinex

I'm not sure if the ibuprofen with the antibiotic medicine really made a difference but I've been taking that too. It's really cold out here and in this weather getting sick definitely not helping me get to the Rose Parade this year.

Platinum Professional Bakeware

9:03 pm
I frosted and decorated 40 cookies. They have to sit for 4 hours in order for the frosting to set. Sprinkling was much harder than I thought. I had to shake the red sprinkles really really hard and hit the cookie at least 10 for anything to come out!

8:22 pm
I tried the "Candy Cane" but it wasn't coming out. So after 5 attempts I tried the "Wreath". Surprising started sticking to the pan perfectly. The only problem now is the shapes DO NOT hold their SHAPES after the are baked!

The "Camels" though they looked great when I pressed them are nothing but a lop-sided
blob after they are baked. Still they can be decorated but look nothing like the box!! Maybe I used the wrong "butter"? Maybe the 325 should be set to 350? I will have to double check!

8:00 pm
When I got back from the store and started using the new Platinum Professional Bakeware cookie sheets they started coming out perfect! But I think it has to do with the batter thawing. These Thick Aluminized Steel from the World's Largest manufacture of industrial bakeware.

I really liked the Corrugated surface. Corrugated surface allows maximizes strength and impact resistances. But Oops! I didn't wash before first use.

7:30 pm
I had a sneaking suspicion the cookie sheet I was using needed to be replaced. While it was clean, was it suppose to really be black? I don't know if it was black through over use and I'm not going to scratch my head wondering.

Sugar Cookies -Holiday Disasters

I was all excited to bake cookies with my new oven. I bought everything and planned to get them done way ahead this year. I started last night and the first batch came out ok. I mean they didn't burn and they tasted fine but on the second batch, there was trouble.

The dough was getting stuck at the end of the tube and not sticking to the pan! The first time I had accidentally greased the pan but read later used ungreased pan so, maybe that was the problem? I put everything away hoping to start again fresh.

I am using the "Clear Cookie Press" by KUHN RIKON Switzerland I bought from La Sur Table. I will try again after the dough has been in the fridge over night.
